The “Life Cycle” Art Installation is a nonprofit interactive experience, funded by donations and built for the pleasure

of participants of the Israeli “Midburn” festival, the local “Burning Man” event.

 

“Life Cycle” is 30 Meter diameter installation, experienced through a 360 degree interaction with light 

and sound. It is created by large water tanks which encompass LED light fixtures, controlled by a 

computer.

 

Participant can experience the “Life Cycle” from outside the installation, from above or from the inside, 

with every angle giving the participant a different feel. The internal circle creates a sphere of light and a 

moving barrier of light and sound between the people inside and the outside world.

 

The main Ingredient in the installation is light. Light is always all around us, like the clock's hands circling the watch. Projecting light through the static elements we are awaking them and make them dynamic. What that will create is the sense of motion and cyclicality.

 

I looked for a recycled industrial product, that would be cut off from the environmental context of the desert, and would be made of material that interacts with light. This is how I got to the 1000 L liquid cubes.

The cubes are arranged in a circle, each one shifted 40 degrees from the other, the minimal shift needed to create the appearance of smooth motion as the light travels through. 

 

In each cube, installed a RGB LED light fixture, controlled by a computer. Each light fixture is installed to the bottom of the cube perpendicularly, lighting the head of the cube, in each position. From each cube, the light is spread in different angles, emphasizing the virtual movement of the cube.
